Tim Cahill and Harry Kewell are likely to miss the Socceroos' World Cup qualifying match against Qatar in Melbourne next Wednesday. Football Federation Australia has confirmed that a group of six European-based players - headlined by Lucas Neill - will arrive in Melbourne early next week with Cahill and Kewell both missing from that list.
Neill - along with David Carney, Nick Carle, Brett Emerton and Jason Culina - will touch down in Melbourne on Monday. Neill will play for West Ham in their English Premier League encounter with Wigan on Sunday morning (Australian time).
Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, who will appear for Middlesbrough in their Premier League fixture against Newcastle on Sunday evening (Australian time), will arrive in Melbourne on Tuesday. Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek selected 19 players from European clubs for his squad, but will not make a decision on their fitness until after they play this weekend.
